FREE Inspirational Documentary Film - Paper Clips
Come to the Lansdowne Library on Friday, May 16 at 7 PM Free admission, free pop corn and drinks. Rated G- Running time 1 hour and 27 minutes Some film footage of concentration camps and discussion of the Holocaust make this film unsuitable for small children. Suggested audience 10 years old and up. Sponsored by Lansdowne Borough and the NPFH Committee, PAPER CLIPS is the moving and inspiring documentary film that captures how these students responded to lessons about the Holocaust-with a promise to honor every lost soul by collecting one paper clip for each individual exterminated by the Nazis. Despite the fact that they had previously been unaware of and unfamiliar with the Holocaust, their dedication was absolute. Their plan was simple but profound. The amazing result, a memorial railcar filled with 11 million paper clips (representing 6 million Jews and 5 million gypsies, homosexuals and other victims of the Holocaust) which stands permanently in their school yard, is an unforgettable lesson of how a committed group of children and educators can change the world one classroom at a time.

We want to let all of Lansdowne know about your Kid's Events.

Featured Pet: Marty Marty's exact age is unknown, but the vet has estimated him to be about 5 years old. He has a HUGE fat tom cat head and has had a very rough life... Marty has lived outside as a neighborhood stray for several months and had to kill birds to survive. He slept on a gravel driveway below a neighbor's car to keep shelter from the cold. Marty has tested POSITIVE for both FeLV/FIV. He is currently on vaccines and will be neutered shortly. He is a shy guy at first but once he gets to know and trust you, he will love to curl up in your lap- he LOVES to snuggle with people. Loves to sleep on window ledges, looking out the window. He can no longer go outside (due to being Felv positive). Marty must be adopted by someone where he can be the only cat, or by someone who already owns a FeLV (and possibly FIV) positive cat already. His health issues do not require anything by way of daily treatment. He just needs a safe, loving home. Marty is currently being fostered, sequestered from the other cats in the house. His foster caregiver is going to have a baby of her own and needs him placed soon! Please consider Marty, he needs a break! Animal Friends of Lansdowne

An Important Message from Chief Kortan
We have had a recent rash of home burglaries the past few days and the police have taken steps to increase protection and catch the burglar(s). We do not divulge all that we are doing for obvious reasons but our community's concerns are our concerns and we are actively investigating and pursuing all leads. The following links are useful: Neighborhood Watch and Burglary Prevention Practices

The most useful tool in our effort to protect our community is the entire community becoming our eyes and ears so that we maximize our efforts and work together to keep Lansdowne as safe as possible. Remember, nothing is insignificant. If it seems suspicious to you, please contact us and we can investigate further. Better to be safe than sorry.
