Lansdowne Announce!

If you can't read the newsletter, see it online here: http://www.shoplansdowne.com/announce_newsletters/2008_10_3.htm

Deadline to Register to Vote is MONDAY, October 6th!
Whatever Your Choice,
Let Your Voice Be Heard

Whatever your party or political opinions, let your voice be heard. You can only vote if you are registered. REGISTER TO VOTE! If you know someone who is not yet registered, help them and encourage them. Help your friends, family, and neighbors REGISTER TO VOTE!
And, if you're thinking that you might not vote this year, remember, every vote counts, really! Here are some amazing examples of how a single vote (yes, just one vote!) has made a huge difference: John F. Kennedy won the Presidency in 1960 by getting one more vote per precinct in Illinois; Texas won statehood in 1845 by just one vote; and women won the right to vote in 1920 by a single vote. Making sure that you, and your friends, are registered to vote in time for the 2008 elections can have a huge impact.

Fred and Barney need a home together...

Here is the perfect pair to take home and love, with a special story that is sure to touch your heart. Brothers Fred and Barney have been through a lot for their tender age, are very bonded, and must be adopted together. They are true survivors with an amazing story. These boys were rescued when they were only about 2 weeks old, along with two other siblings, when their mother was killed by a neighborhood dog. Two kindly neighbors rescued the four kittens and did their very best to care for them, getting up at regular intervals during the night to bottle feed them, and rushing them to the vet when one kitten took a sudden turn for the worse, as very little ones sometimes do. The babies received the very best emergency care but sadly, we lost two of them. Another hero emerged when Kim, a technician at our vet's office, volunteered to take the babies home and care for them herself. She has provided them with expert and loving care, and Fred and Barney are now thriving and ready to meet their forever family. They are extremely well-socialized, feisty, playful, loving and inseparable. They are litter-trained, eating kitten food, and getting along very well with the other pets in their foster home. They've weathered the storm and deserve a happy life in a very special home. So what are you waiting for? animalfriendsoflansdowne.com

Lansdowne Borough

Borough Council meets the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 7:30 p.m. at Borough Hall
... come out and participate.

A Message from the Chief of Police

We have had a recent rash of home burglaries the past few days and the police have taken steps to increase protection and catch the burglar(s). We do not divulge all that we are doing for obvious reasons but our community's concerns are our concerns and we are actively investigating and pursuing all leads. The following links are useful: Neighborhood Watch and Burglary Prevention Practices

The most useful tool in our effort to protect our community is the entire community becoming our eyes and ears so that we maximize our efforts and work together to keep Lansdowne as safe as possible. Remember, nothing is insignificant. If it seems suspicious to you, please contact us and we can investigate further. Better to be safe than sorry. Dan Kortan, Chief of Police, Lansdowne, PA
