Come to this workshop led by Dan Simpson Sunday, June 8th, 1:00 to 4:00 PM, at Lansdowne Public Library 55 S. Come check out some poetry with us, beginning with song lyrics, and see if you don't find yourself relaxing into the world of words and enjoying the playfulness of interpretation. . and if you came to the last one, please come back; we'll be looking at new poems and song lyrics. Admission is free. RSVP preferred, but not required. If you would like to take part in this workshop, please contact Dan Simpson at dansimpson@comcast.net. Lansdowne Public Library 55 S. Featured Pet:
NERO NEEDS A HERO!
He deserves the very best. Meet Nero, a special needs kitten who is, indeed, extremely special. And he may turn out to be just fine! Please take a moment to read his story: Nero was recently rescued on a porch in Lansdowne, but could not be kept by his rescue family. AFL stepped in and took him to our vet's office. We were immediately touched by his sweetness, cuddling and purring, and playfulness, and we knew that this was a very special boy who would be a devoted "people cat." Nero tested positive for feline leukemia, but we weren't worried since we know that kittens sometimes do test positive while they are still developing antibodies. To be safe, we boarded Nero at the vet's office while a confirming test was sent to the lab. A few days later, we had our answer. The lab test was positive, too. So Nero is still in isolation with our vet while we wait the requisite 3 months to retest him. It is still possible that he will test negative then!

Meanwhile poor Nero, who craves and thrives on human affection, is by himself with only sporadic visits from kindly hospital staff and AFL board members who have fallen in love with his winning personality, handsome tuxedo looks, and affectionate nature. If you think you might find a place in your home and your heart for this absolute charmer of a little cat (just 2-3 months old), please contact Animal Friends of Lansdowne as soon as possible. It is important for Nero to live (or be fostered) in a home with no other cats until we can be completely sure of his status in August 2008. It would be so much better for this wonderful little guy to be in a loving home for the next three months (or forever) than at a vet's office. Could you be the hero that Nero needs? !
