Lansdowne Business Association New Programs

A NEW annual community event
strengthens our committment to help our town!

For years, the most-asked question is town has been, "What's happening in Lansdowne?" It's a healthy curiosity that will likely continue as Lansdowne evolves.

In 2008, the Lansdowne Business Association gathered community leaders at the first annual public event to give people the opportunity to hear, first-hand, what's going on. Here's what we heard at our first "What's Happening?" event:

  • We met the new Main Street Manager, Michael Grant, introduced by Virginia Gavin, Lansdowne Economic Development Corporation's President. We heard about the LEDC's programs for businesses and commercial building owners
  • Terry Ponton, GLCA President, gave us a snapshot of the Lansdowne Theater building activity and the Greater Lansdowne Civic Association project.
  • Kathleen Lambert, Zoning Hearing Board Chair, enlightened us about the new zoning code and how it will effect the town in a very positive way.
  • Cultural organizations were represented by Jack Covert (Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra), Lee Jones (Lansdowne Folk Club), Stephen Wagner (Lansdowne Sofa Cinema) and Terry Baraldi (Celebration Theater).
  • Joan Reivich told us about the Lansdowne Human Relations Commission.
  • Barbara Silzle, Borough Council Environmental Committee, offered information on how we can help the planet, and reduce the cost of trash disposal for the Borough through conscientious recycling efforts.
  • From Jeri Staiber, we learned about the various ways in which the 20th Century Club is used; and what is offered by the Lansdowne Parks & Recreation Program.

Attendees enjoyed mingling, sipping tea and coffee, munching on tasty treats, and participating in the Q & A following the panel presentations.
